ABOUT
ENGINEER LIKE A GIRL

Engineer Like A Girl is a social initiative dedicated to empowering young girls and fostering their dreams through our series of powerful interviews from women in engineering.

MISSION & HISTORY.

Engineer Like A Girl is a social-initiative created by engineering students at Stanford University to provide visible role models for young girls in hopes of acting as motivation, inspiration and an opportunity for exploration. Engineering is a pathway to delve into the world of design, product development, and entrepreneurship to arm oneself with the hands-on skills to solve real world problems. We are the dreamers and doers behind the reality of our future.

Plenty of evidence shows programming of prejudice starts during childhood leading fewer and fewer girls to engineering. Only 13% of current engineers are women. Engineer Like A Girl is here to redress the imbalance with an injection of woman power and redefine what it means to “do something like a girl”. This is a phrase thrown around as an insult, but it is actually one of our greatest assets. Yes, we can kick-ass as women engineers of the future. Engineer Like A Girl only scratches the surface of the millions of women engineers out there changing the world one problem at a time.
